FLV videos with alpha channel transparency are supported in Articulate Storyline's Flash and Articulate Mobile Player (AMP) output. There was an issue in earlier builds of Storyline where alpha channel transparency wasn't working as expected in published courses, but it has since been corrected. Can you confirm that you are on the latest update of Storyline? Also, keep in mind that this will not work in the HTML5 output.
If you are still having difficulty and need us to take a look at your .story file, you can share your file here with our team.
Have there been any updates/improvements with this particular dilemma since your response 6 mos ago? The Flash player continues to fade further and further from existence and your last response is a copy and paste of a response from two years ago when this same issue first began to rear it's ugly head.
Does SL plan to address the death of Flash in newer versions of the software? I know I'm already a version or two behind (Storyline 2).
With the release of Storyline 3 and Storyline 360 (part of the Articulate 360 suite) we made a lot of improvements within the HTML5 output knowing the issues that Flash has caused over the last couple of years.
You'll now see that Storyline previews in HTML5, and you can choose to publish with HTML5 only or first output and still have flash as a fallback. You may want to take a look at our updated comparison chart of HTML5, Flash and AMP here.
The other big improvement was the changes made around mobile viewing, and the responsive player that we created for Storyline 3/360 and Studio 360 output. Take a look at the information here.
With this, we still haven't changed the way videos are encoded - so if you're inserting an FLV or SWF video, those will f ollow the same set up as shown here based on the output.
Correct Lawrence - it's not a feature right now, but our team is always looking for customer feedback on the features you'd like to see and you're welcome to share that with them right here. 😁

HI Pete,

so, the answer is 'NO' at this stage? But it maybe on the roadmap?
Correct Lawrence - it's not a feature right now, but our team is always looking for customer feedback on the features you'd like to see and you're welcome to share that with them right here. 😁
Also, here's a bit more information on how features become a part of Articulate.
SL 360 currently has green screen options in the content video. Is there any way to make these videos work when published?
SHarrilyn,
I'd follow Ashley's link in the post above yours and enter, MP4 with alpha channel at 720-1080 Rez, 30-60fps rec2020.
Might make you feel happier; but as a recap - "... it's not a feature right now,"
Thanks Lawrence. I added the request. I was hoping since it was their video I was using, they had updated the status.
Thanks, Lawrence for sharing that and Sharrilyn for submitting the request.
Sharrilyn, you mentioned it was a video from Content Library? I'm curious if you could share a copy of the .story file so that I could take a look!
