Alt text gone. What will storyline read in the timeline?

Mar 04, 2020

Question 1: For some reason, my ALT text in the tab order is all blank for all of my slides. There is no default text. Does anyone know why and if there's an easy fix?

Question 2: In the Alt Text article it also says: "If an object doesn’t have alternate text, screen readers will read the name of that object as it appears in the timeline." Which part of the timeline is it reading ? The details in the grey area or the label in the white area of the timeline? I need to confirm if we're using this as a back up.

Hi Natasha!

I'm happy to step in and help!

To answer your first question, there isn't any ALT text included by default. What you're seeing is expected behavior so not to worry!

Second, the name of the object will always appear on the left side of the timeline. This is what a screen reader will read if there isn't ALT text.

Please let me know if I can clarify anything!
