An All or Nothing Quiz in Canvas

Sep 22, 2017

Hi,

I'm making a quiz to be added in Canvas. The teacher wants students who achieve 70% or better to receive all the points and zero points below 70. Right now, it seems no matter what I do, students always get a percentage of the points.

On the results slide, I've set the pass to be 70%. When publishing, I'm using the LMS option and SCORM 1.2.

ScormCloud shows both the score and the status.

I made a sample 10 questions assessment and set the pass to 70%. When I take it, and purposely fail, I see I did not pass and the percentage. I'm hoping to only see the pass or fail. In canvas, no matter what I do, I see the percentage. On the results slide, I added a condition to the Submit Results trigger that is identical to the Show success layer.

Hi Michael,

Which of the statuses are you using in the publish settings?

You have four reporting options from which to choose:

  • Passed/Incomplete
  • Passed/Failed
  • Completed/Incomplete
  • Completed/Failed

Many LMSs track both a completion status and a success status. To report both statuses, choose either Passed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed when publishing Storyline content. Completed/Incomplete and Completed/Failed report only the completion status.

Also, if you didn't want to see a users score, what about setting the completion based on viewing a number of slides? Or requiring them to view a particular slide? Take a look at the steps here.
