Animation Problems

Apr 01, 2014

Hi

I am having problems with the animation effects that I have been adding to my articulate project. When I add the animation and then try to preview the presentation the image won't appear at all, yet when I remove the animation it appears back on the slide in preview mode.

I have even tried doing a test web publish and it didn't work then either. Is there a setting that I am missing?

Thanks

Amanda

Hi Amanda and welcome to Heroes!

As Rehan mentioned, it would be helpful to see this in action with the slide or even a recording of the behavior, but in the meantime, check out the following tutorials to learn more about how to work with animations and transitions in your project:

Hi Ashley,

I have been trawling through countless feeds and tutorials, the problem I am having is that the second slide in my project the timeline won't start automatically. If I add the seek bar I can press play and it will start but otherwise nothing happens.

I have tried running a repair for articulate which didn't have any effect, there are a few people that have had a the same problem, but no answers. Is there any settings on my PC that might effect this?

Thanks

Amanda

Hi Ashley,

I am having problems uploading the file, what format does it need to be in?

I have tried all of the different things that have been listed in forums so far. I even opened a previous project and the timeline no longer works on this either. I am currently using Windows 7 and internet explorer. But the error comes up in both preview and when I publish to the web to test.

Is there some other way to email my project to you?

Thanks

Amanda

Hi Amanda are you looking for this thing????

You have asked two questions, i am not clear about the first question because you should tell which animation is not working properly. in the second question what you are looking for is to start the second slide timeline automatically when timeline starts for the second slide. here is what my understanding is about your first question.

Check this out if i am right, if not then let me know more. do preview it and let me know if it works

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for sharing the file. I tested it first in preview, and all the animations played as expected. Was there a particular slide causing you trouble that you could point me towards? When you mention the timeline are you referring to how you're viewing the timeline while editing or to the seekbar? It looks like the seekbar isn't enabled on every slide, so that could be a part of your issue of not seeing the timeline. Also, the timeline while editing can be hidden if you click on the top line that delineates the timeline section from the slide and drag to the bottom. So to bring it back, you'll want to find where it's shown at the bottom and click the top to drag up or just click within the section itself.

Hi All,

Ok originally I thought I had a problem with animations. I now know it is a problem with the timeline. The issue I have is that the first slide plays automatically but when you move to the second slide the timeline doesn't start at all. I only added in the seekbar to see if I could get it to start manually which I can. But as soon as I take away the seekbar nothing happens. I just want to know how to get the timeline to play automatically.... I am starting to think there is something wrong with the settings on my computer but have no way of knowing how to check it... any suggestions.

Thanks for looking at it Rehan but unfortunately that didn't solve my problem the timeline still didn't start.

Thanks

Amanda

Hi Amanda,

The video on the slide advances automatically, but the slide itself advances by the user clicking the button on the layer to go to the next slide.

On the second slide, there is no video or media that plays, and then the menu is shown when the timeline of the layer ends, and then again the user will need to interact with one of the elements there to advance to the next slide.

As I said before, everything is advancing as designed within your triggers while I preview the course. I may be misunderstanding what you'd like to set up, as I see you have the rest of the slides set to advance automatically but then triggers for a next and previous button on your slides which would determine where you'd like the user to go. Those triggers all loop back to the initial menu slide or the other menu slide that doesn't include any other triggers or links to access the rest of the slides - so I'm unsure of what behavior you would like there.
