Animations freezing issue

Aug 18, 2020

Hi, I have a weird issue with a course. This slide has various animations and triggers that make things appear/disappear as the animations complete. When I preview or publish to review, the slide often causes no issue, but if you try it a couple of times, animations keep freezing. It can be pretty much any animation, but it mostly occurs when the magnifying glass is clicked. See file attached. I have tried to deactivate some triggers and recreate them, but no success. Any idea what's happening here? :(

Hi Niels!

Thank you for including your Storyline project! I've tested this out on my end, and I'm not having any issues with the animations freezing. Here's my review link.

Which browser are you using? I'm using Google Chrome, which is where I do not see issues with the animations.

If you're not using Chrome, would you mind testing my review link in different browsers to see if the browser environment might be causing the snag?

Thank you Niels for sharing the video! I've recreated your steps and saw the freezing as well.

However, it looks like this is only happening when refreshing the webpage after already viewing the animation once. Are you seeing that on your end as well? If so, is there a specific reason why the learner needs to refresh the page?

If you're using this as a quiz questions, how about adding another attempt? Here's an updated Review 360 link where I've added an attempt to the quiz question.

Hey Lauren, it also happens in the preview mode within Storyline and there it also sometimes happens the first time I review. Learners might have to redo the slide if they get it wrong the first time, so it's a plausible scenario that they will revisit and then encounter the issue. Worse yet, as it's a quiz slide, they can't even navigate away from it, unless they hop to a new slide via the menu. :S

I followed the link you posted and it also freezes on me, but now it does it right away without even refreshing the page... :S

This obviously seems to be a bug. I'll try to build the slide again from scratch and see if that makes a difference.
