Why do the answers not have 1. 2. 3. or A. B. C before them when creating answer options in the quiz portion of storyline? how do i add these?

I often have the request to create questions that need the answers to be labeled with numbers or letters. Perhaps the feedback needs to reference a particular question or the correct responses are something like A, C, and D. If I can't talk the client into using a multiple response question type, then the best solution I've found is to simply use a large radio button style for the answers and overlay a text box on top of each radio button with the numbers/letters. This works well in that the answer text remains indented appropriately and you can select either the button or answer to make your selection.

In using this approach, you need to turn off answer shuffle. If you want to use a dark-colored radio button style, then you can add the letter to the states of each button, so the text changes over the selected button. However, this is a lot more work, so I just use a light-colored button.

Hi,

Late to the party, but since I'd provided an answer to similar question elsewhere and had an almost-ready slide, I figured I'd weigh in.

Like Lu's, my method involves inserting option (radio) buttons, but unlike Lu's and Michael's, my example DOES allow for shuffled answers. So, just in case it helps someone, here it is.

The option buttons have the added text. The "A, B C" text boxes are separate.

Any questions, please shout out!

Hi Becky, you are never too late as we always learn tons from you!

The text boxes I add are separate as well and theoretically, you can shuffle the answers; however, if the responses are of different line lengths, then the shuffling displaces the letters over the bullets.

If your answers are all the same number of lines, then shuffling probably works fine.

HI Lu, Michael, and Beth,

Tx for the kudos. I hadn't tested for line length...there's always something to "get ya''", isn't there? So, thanks for the valuable heads up.

It was also good to see your post and Beth's and know that there are are others who need to create customized MC questions in order to satisfy this particular need. So, thanks for posting.
