Applying exit transition to the hide layer trigger

Hi is it possible to apply an exit transition (animation) to the hide layer trigger?
I want a custom navigation menu that is accessed by a button on the slide master. I can get it to slide up when the user clicks menu button, but I want it to slide down again when the user clicks the chapter name before jumping to the chapter. I tried adding a trigger to show another layer with the chapter selected which then slides down, but would need to create one of these for every chapter, and just realised I'd then need to copy each layer to every screen individually and life is too short! Is there an easier way to make my menu slide back down before jumping? Thanks in advance.

I did it with several layers
on the base layer if the user clicks MENU, the Menu layer displays.
The menu layer animates in the list of chapters (Fly in from bottom)
When the suer slects a chapter, it opens the relvant chapter layer.
The cahpter layer has the fly out animation for the list of chapters. Once the timeline ends for this layer, antoher triggers jumps the user to the correct chapter.
So there are several layers
The Main Layer
The Menu Layer that ainimates in
And one layer for each chapter that animates out and moves to the correct chapter.
Easier to see than describe. See attached.
Hi Pat! Looks like Garth is taking care of you here, just let us know how that suggestion works for you and if you need anything further.
Garth, sorry for slow reply. Much appreciated! It's amazing what you can do with some lateral thinking!
Thanks for popping in to update Pat and glad that Garth was able to help you out with this
