Font styles and what each person determines to look the best is a personal preference, but you may want to check out this information on Open Sans as the default font in SL2. Otherwise, I hope some community members can chime in with input!
And just to share here, we have provided our Quality Assurance team with some information and examples about the kerning issue with Arial - so once we have information to share, we'll share within the E-learning Heroes forums and as a part of the KB articles here.

I've seen some recent complaints about Arial's kerning in the output. I haven't seen the same with Open Sans. Your mileage may vary.
Like Arial, Open Sans is a similar to Helvetica.
