I am unsure of the cause of your problem, but you could easily batch process all of your audio files in Audacity to another format such as wav and see if that fixes your issue.
AIFF is one of the supported audio formats listed here, as Nicholas mentioned you may want to try converting it to another format as not all codecs and bitrates are supported. Directions on how to use Audacity are included in this article on audio issues.

First off, I did want to share a reminder about working on a Mac in the VM environment, you'll want to work solely in the Windows environment. Based on the image you shared, I saw it mentioned a "shared folder" - you'll also want to work with local project files (local within the Windows environment) as working from a shared or network drive could cause erratic behavior.
