Audio for some slides not playing
Oct 09, 2023
I am building a short lesson in Articulate Storyline 360.
When I play the slides individually, they all have sound. When I use PREVIEW to watch the lesson, all of my slides have sound. However, whenever I publish my file, either in SCORM, or to the Review360 site, some slides do not play audio at all, even though the lesson is currently playing (things are moving on the screen as they are supposed to). Later on in the presentation, audio plays just fine for some slides.
Here is where things get weird... When I publish to SCORM or Review360, while the slide is playing with no sound, if I click anywhere on the navigation bar, the sound automatically starts playing for the slide like nothing wrong ever happened. Furthermore... about once every 10 republishes of this lesson, the sound will work fine. But then on the next publish, it goes back to not working.
This has been tested on multiple computers, with multiple users, and this still happens, so I dont think it is something wrong with my install, since it is replicable on other computers. To be sure, I have fully updated my software, and the problem still persists.
Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me out?
System: Windows 10 Enterprise, fully updated
Version of Storyline: 3.80.31058.0

Have you done anything to get rid of the play button storyline displays at the start? This can cause odd audio behaviour
if you are using the "trick"
exactly what you described will happen
Thanks Jurgen that is exactly what I meant. Much better to use a slide with no media.
And use a button to progress and you get no issues
It will play sometimes because at some point you cross the media playing index for the site.
Thank you. You were both spot on. I had taken off the Start button from the intro slide to match how the other content in the lesson loads... and it created the issue. As soon as I put in the button, and made the slide advance by user button click, everything started working as intended.
Is this a bug in the programming, or a feature that I just dont understand?
The button is there to ensure media will play, following changes Google instigated to stop autoplay in browsers. Others on here will recommend the timeline start trigger but for me it only causes issues.

here some background infos for autoplay audio and unmuted video
You guys have been super helpful! Thank you! I really appreciate all of the resources!
