Audio-heavy base layer as Slide Master

Jan 09, 2023

I have attached a base layer which is working properly, and includes a great deal of user-initiated audio as you will see. I am struggling to turn this into a slide master and have all the audio work properly. I also haven't been able to get it to work as a secondary layer, which I could use as a workaround if I can't get the slide master to work.

How can I get this base layer to work as an add-on layer and/or slide master?

Hi Jim,

Thanks for reaching out! You can copy the items from your base layer to a sublayer by selecting all of them (CTRL+A), copying (CTRL+C), then in your sublayer, click CTRL+V to paste. This technique won't work for slide masters as the object references in the triggers may not be copied. I recommend using custom templates instead.

I prepared a screen recording for you showing the steps. Let me know if this works for you!

Thanks Eric. I copy pasted all the elements from the base layer to a sub layer just as you suggested, but the sub layer audio won't play, which is what prompted me to post this question yesterday.

Good to know about custom templates. I was hoping to not clutter every page with all those triggers, but if I must, that's ok. But it will only be practical for me if I can get the audio to play on a sub-layer.
