Auto-Enable of Correct & Incorrect Feedback Layers?
Dec 07, 2015
I'm still fairly new to Storyline 2, but here's what I've got. I've extensively searched and can't find an exact answer.
I've used the wonderful Excel question import tool for my current project (it's proprietary at this point, and cannot share), and put the "Review Quiz" function on the Results slide. Manager, however, also wants the automatically-generated "Correct" and "Incorrect" layers to show as each question is submitted.
Is there a way to auto-enable these layers without building all the triggers? The question import tool does keep accurate track of what is correct and what is not, and we were hoping a time-saving tool would prevent programming all the various triggers and layers. Your help is appreciated!

Hi Brandon
I haven't use the import tool so I'm not sure if there is a field for feedback selection...but in the quiz slide if you go to the form view tab you will see options to display feedback - by question. This will need to be enabled for all your question slides - then as the user clicks submit it will display the correct or incorrect layer. Hope that is what you meant.

I have "Feedback > By Question" selected for each of the 20 questions I've imported. It does not offer either of the correct or incorrect layers. Other thoughts? Thank you for the quick reply.
Hi Brandon
can you create a new quiz slide and see if you get the correct/incorrect layers displaying?
Will try that now.
Does not work if "Submit" is de-selected in the slide properties. I want to use my own submit button, and not the Player Submit button.
True - you didn't mention you were using custom navigation.
Thinking out loud here - can you create a master slide for the question, add the correct/incorrect layers to that with your custom submit button - then apply that layout to all the questions?
And I do apologize for that. I did start with a master slide/submit button, and applied that layout to each of the question slides.
Hi Brandon
if the master slide idea doesn't work, I don't know of another way other than creating triggers based on the user clicking the custom submit button to reveal the correct/incorrect layer for each question.
Perhaps a hero has a workaround for you - good luck!
Hi Brandon,
The question feedback should be included by default within an import unless you're including choice level feedback as described here, but if you're removing the submit button it likely also took the submit trigger away and as such that is what would show/generate the feedback layers.

Hello Ashley -- it appears the answer is that one must leave the submit function on the player, or otherwise rebuild the "Submit," function, correct? Was the import Excel tool designed to be used to have the Submit function left on player?
Hi Brandon,
The Import is designed based on the standard set up of quizzes and functionality, so yes if you're removing these things I'd suspect it would remove the other set up such as the feedback. Although I'm curious how you're removing the submit button as I assume it's occurring after you've imported in the questions? Have you checked to see that the feedback is included prior to removing the submit?
