Back Button and Audio Not Working Together

Jun 14, 2018

I have built an Articulate Storyline module, and am having trouble getting my back button to work effectively. It is working to take the learner back to where I want them to go. However, it only plays my audio of the first scene of the slide. It goes through the rest of the scenes, but plays no audio. Can anyone help me figure out what I did wrong or point me in the right direction of what I might do to fix it? Thank you in advance for any assistance!

Hi there, Lisa!  The timeline of your slide will restart if you have the slide properties to "reset to initial state" when the learner revisits the slide.  Setting the slide to "automatically decide" behaves like this:

  • If the slide has only simple objects and/or audio but no interactivity, Storyline resets the slide to the beginning of its timeline.
  • If the slide contains interactive elements, such as buttons or other objects that have a visited/selected state, Storyline resumes the slide where it left off previously.

So the first thing I'd check are the slide properties.  Is the timeline starting over and the audio is still not playing?

If you'd like to attach your file here, I'm happy to have a closer look!
