Beginner question - publishing as a single file?

I have just started using Storyline, and made a quick quiz slide.  Wanted to publish it as a swf file, which I could share with others via Dropbox.  When I publish it, I get a whole series of files and folders, which I can't easily share.  Is it possible to publish an interactive "story" as a single file?  I can do it with Captivate.

Thanks!  Bear with me, as I am a true beginner (all of a few hours on Storyline, though more on Captivate).

Guy, I was able to see your example.  And I can get that to work with a non-interactive file - and actually in that case, I just put the swf file in my Dropbox "Public" folder - not the "story" html file.

Bruce, you say "point people at the story.html file and the magic will all work".  I don't know how to do that.  I can put the "story.html" file in the Dropbox "Public" folder, but it won't let me put the folder with all the other files.  And if I put the "story" file in, but not the others, when I share the link to that file, the user just gets an error message saying, "Could not load the file 'story_content/data.swf'" - which I assume is because the other files are not present in the "Public" folder.

Hi Russ.

  • Compile your .story file using one of the options.
  • Copy the ENTIRE folder to a Public DB folder, (tho' have just changed the options in DB).
  • Anyway...you need to right-click on the story.html file, and COPY THE PUBLIC LINK. That is the link that you need to share with people.

Hope that helps.
