We use the mobile apps Blackboard Learn Mobile and Bb Student on an iOS device (ie no flash) and we want the Storyline scorm package to talk back to Learn's grade center. Has anyone been able to do this successfully? The html5 doesn't display.
Hi, Scott! While I cannot speak to using the Blackboard Learn Mobile app personally, I did want to share this post on a similar topic that may have some suggestion that could be of use. Hopefully others in the community who use Blackboard Learn Mobile can stop in to share their experiences, as well. :)
I would love to know if you got this resolved. We are also having trouble accessing Articulate SCORM packages via Blackboard Learn on our ipads. The Articulate app just says it cannot access it. This is not good when all the students are given ipads and want to access it this way.
Hi Emma - this thread is a bit dated and I'm not seeing an update from Scott here.
Are you utilizing the Blackboard Mobile App as well? If so, that's not something I will be able to assist with as that is not a supported viewing environment.
If, however, you are simply wanting to view the HTML5 content that has been published to your LMS on a mobile device, I would recommend not selecting the Articulate Mobile Player unless you are publishing for Tin Can API.
To track learners who view your course on mobile devices, do any of the following, depending on your LMS:
Articulate Online
LMS
For the best experience, mark the box to Use Articulate Mobile Player for iOS or Android.
If learners will be using mobile devices other than iPad, mark the box to Include HTML5 output.
If your LMS supports Tin Can API, mark the box to Use Articulate Mobile Player for iOS or Android for the best experience.
If your LMS doesn't support Tin Can API, mark the box to Include HTML5 output.
If learners will be using mobile devices other than iPad, mark the box to Include HTML5 output.
The Articulates have stopped working for the app on our IPad's as well. Just got a complaint from a user and I tried it myself on my IPad it says - cannot access content. I have tested it on SCORM Cloud as well and it's not working on there either. I am publishing to SCORM 1.2, Including HTML5 and the articulate app player boxes checked (it has always worked fine on IPads). Can you guys have a look a this as soon as possible as we have a lot of learners using IPads.
Hi Issa - this thread is a bit dated. You are publishing to HTML5 and Articulate Mobile Player, but viewing in a 3rd party mobile app? This is not a supported viewing environment. If I have misunderstood, please let me know. You mention replication via SCORM Cloud, so does that mean you are unable to properly view the HTML5 output as well? If so, we would want to take a look at the .story file.
If you're publishing for SCORM 1.2 or 2004, and uploading to your LMS and then trying to view within the Articulate Mobile player, those may not work correctly as detailed here.
Also, that error message is detailed further here. The setting I saw indicated Scorm 1.2, so you'd want to look at removing the AMP option and rely on the HTML5 output in Mobile Safari.
I'd also ensure you're on the latest update of Storyline 2 Update 11 and using the latest iOS 10.2
Hey Issa - Thanks for sharing. That helped me understand and gather my thoughts a bit better.
I experienced an error with your content as well, but this article explains why. I assume your LMS requires a sign-in similar to testing in SCORM Cloud.
If you publish to the web, the content works in the Articulate Mobile Player as you would expect:
If you wish to view your content on a mobile device published to your LMS and you are not publishing for Tin Can (see chart I shared above here), then I would suggest publishing to HTML5 and not Articulate Mobile Player.
No I wasn't using the blackboard app, I go straight to the website. I too took your advice and published to html5 and this did the trick :-) Thank you very much for your help. This is brilliant.
