My colleague and I are having issues with screen recordings in Articulate 360. The recordings aren't very clear in both preview and when they're published.
So sorry you're seeing some blur. We've identified an issue in step-by-step screen recording slides where the recording looks blurry until the mouse click. After the mouse click, the screen looks sharp again.
Does this description match what you're seeing? If not, I'm happy to keep digging!
With your permission, we'd like to take a look at your .story file to investigate what's happening and will delete it after troubleshooting. If that works for you, you can share your file privately with our Support team here. We'll give it a test and let you know what we find!
any idea if this gets solved soon? I have to start a series for software training - it's not exactly pretty software to begin with and mainly works with lots of text and tables. It's really distracting if the image keeps jumping in quality and there's no chance to hide that on my end...
I don't have an update to share on this issue yet, but if you can share a copy of your file with us, that'll allow us to confirm you're seeing the same behavior described here.
You can share it publicly here, or send it to our Support Team privately. We'll delete it when done troubleshooting.
Also, can you let me know what browsers you're testing the course in where you see the blurriness?
thanks for chiming in. I've sent my project to yout Support Team.
I'm actually exporting my project as a video, so it's just a regular .mp4 without any browser weirdness whatsoever. I know it's possible to rework this particular project as a video on a slide, but I really like the smooth mouse movement the step by step adds to it. And in the long run we definitely need the step by step testing mode...
it's been some time since I've been in contact with support, but my problem's still not solved.
Funny enough, the problem doesn't seem to be part of the project file, because the support team was able to publish my project without a hitch - while I've been getting a jumping image on my end.
I really can't afford to wait any longer as I have several projects lined up that would need the step-by-step recording. Would it be possible to send my project files to you and have you publishing it? That isn't exactly comfortable for both of us, but at least we'd get a good looking result.
No apologies necessary - and I think I saw a recent survey comment from you as well about difficulty scheduling time to walk Jose through your issue in a screenshare. I reached out to him to have him follow up!
Jose just contacted me, thanks. I still hope you're able to find a solution for this - I can avoid my jumping screen by disabling the screen recording action, but of course that also means I'm missing out on the actual recorded part like typing etc. Since my "jumping screen" is caused by the lower quality of the screen recording action, which is technically a video, maybe there's something going on with video compression? That would explain why the support team was able to publish my project with excellent quality...however, I can't access video tools for the screen recording action and have a look at the settings. But maybe Jose can do something with that information.
Thanks for those details, Ina. I see that we were able to do a screen sharing session and discovered that using a lower screen resolution when recording helped your issue. Please feel free to reply back to Wilbert's email or to start a new case if you need more help!

I'm sorry for double posting, but I just found a workaround on my end, check it out:

Hi,
just for the record: I don't need to use a lower screen resolution per se, but my recording needs to be 16:9, like 1280x720 or 1600x900.
Hello Everyone!
I'm happy to return to this discussion with some great news. 🗞
We've fixed the issue reported where: Screen recording video output is blurry when published/previewed.
Be sure to install the latest Storyline 360 update (Build 3.50.24668.0) to take advantage of all the recent features and fixes.
If the problem happens again, please let us know, or you can always work directly with our support engineers here.
Becca,
I'm seeing this issue still
solved it with the lower resolution option. time to look at updating this so it works with all resolutions perhaps.
Hi Ari!
As long as you are on the latest build of Storyline 360 and are following some best practices, then you may want to reach out to our support engineers, so that they can take a deeper look into the issue.
