Branching/Tracking

Jun 22, 2023

I looked at existing discussions and found some that were close to what I was looking for, so I'm starting with a new question.  I have a course that is being assigned to 2 different groups within my organization.  They are very similar with the exception of a few slides that may be slightly different.  They both have assessments at the end that also have slight differences, but could be almost identical.  In the past they were two separate courses, but now I was looking to see if I can have users select which group they belong to on the first slide, and then it branches them to the correct path (that part's the easy part).  My question is a 2 part question.

1. Can Storyline identify that there are 2 assessments, but only one needs to be passed in order to properly report to our LMS?

2. Can the player menu be edited so that only the path the user chooses shows up in the menu, and not both "courses"?

Any insight would be gladly appreciated!

1. Yes. When you publish a course with multiple quizzes for an LMS and indicate that the user must pass a quiz, the program will send the LMS info from whichever quiz is completed first. Since your learners would only take one quiz, its results would be submitted to the LMS.

2. You can't rebuild the Player Menu based on which path the learner chooses. (At least, that can't be done with just Storyline. It might be possible with special coding, e.g., JavaScript.)

FYI: This post is about creating different paths. It includes a comment that has a demo file for creating a custom menu for each path. TIP: Let the user choose their path - Articulate Storyline Discussions - E-Learning Heroes
