The "jump to file trigger" and the Resource tab don't work on the iPad within the mobile player as documented here. Are you viewing the Mobile player output or the HTML5 output? If the latter you'll want to make sure you're viewing in mobile safari and if you're still experiencing odd behavior we'll want to take a look at the problematic file.
I have a question about inserting a document link nto SL -- it works fine, but I'm working with a freelancer and when she gives me the source .story files the paths to the documents are all her local computer, so therefore break when I publish the file. Is there a way that she can create a folder structure that I can duplicate so I don't have to relink every document link if I make a change to the source file and need to republish?
You'll need to have the files and link to them locally as well. Perhaps your freelancer could also look at publishing the files and then provide you with all the files/folders (publish and pre-publish). You could also look at including the files as a part of the Player Resource tab and link them as described here. Then you can share the player resources as described here. A bit more steps for your freelancer - so I guess it all depends on what your needs are and budget for time of the freelancer.
You could look at adding it an Engage interaction with a hyperlink? But there isn't an option to add it as a part of the Resource tab like there is in Storyline or Presenter.
I know this is an old thread, but you just made my day Jen!
I've been trying to find a method to disable user from downloading and printing the PDF, and using your method, I was able to disable the toolbar which hid those buttons!
This is awesome. I was concerned that people would not be able to view the PDF's since the location the storyline was reading is my desktop. So this won't be the case?

I'm trying to add a pdf file to an Engage interaction. Is that possible? If so, how can I do it?
