Can I import slide design into Storyline?

Sep 28, 2020

Hello. My employer has a PPT template design that we need to use with logos and particular colours. Can I import that template to be available as a choice every time I add a new slide to my storyline? can you please advice me where to do so? I am looking into "importing template" or something like that without much success. Thanks very much!

Hi Monica,

All you need to do is:

1.  Import into Storyline a PowerPoint presentation that has the design you want (You only need to select the first slide to import).

2.  Go to View Slide Master and you will see your new layouts. You should also see the default set (on white/blank backgrounds) above them. Now give each of your new layout options a suitable name (use the names in the default set as a guide - just hover over the slide to see the name).

3.  Select the first slide in the default set (the Master Slide), right click and delete the Master. You will now be left with just your new layout options.

4.  Close the Master Slide View and return to your single slide. Select Save As from the file menu and Storyline Template as your Save As Type and give your new template a name and save it.

In order to use your new template, you simply open a new project, go to Slides / My Templates and select your new template from the drop-down menu and then import the slide. Bringing the first slide into your new project will also bring in all the layout options in your template.

To select one of the new layouts either in your new project or if you are updating an old project (remember to import the new template first), just right click on a slide and select Apply Layout from the drop down menu. If you have a number of slides that you want to give the new layout to, just select them all in Story View, right click on one of the selected slides and select Apply Layout from the drop down menu.

Hope this helps. If you have any further queries, just get back to me here.
