Can Storyline 2 eliminate learner pre-selected options in a drop-down quiz interface?
Jan 20, 2017
In a quizzing slide using drop-down options, e.g. "Matching Drop-Down" or "Sequence Drop-Down", I would like to see if Storyline 2 can automatically remove an option that the learner has selected previously...
Let's say you had a sequence drop-down with options "1", "2", "3" that needed to be ordered. The learner selects "1" in the first drop-down window. Then when the learner clicks the second drop-down window, I want to only see options "2" and "3" remaining, because "1" has been selected/taken.
Is that possible? Or am I to write a feature request?
Also, would removing selected options mess up the learner if they make a mistake? e.g. if they selected "2" by mistake in the first sequence drop-down, they would not see it in the second drop-down and would have to remove it from the first drop-down. I'm keen to hear opinions on this...
Thanks!

Hi Matt,
That's certainly an idea worth sharing with our product development team in the form of a feature request. You make a great point about this possibly causing confusion if the learner makes a mistake. I'm interested in hearing what other community members think about this, as it gives us a better idea of how in demand the feature is!
I would love that feature. Until then, is there a way to do this using variables?
Hi Felisha!
Please feel free to add your voice through a feature request! There is not a way to change the functionality of a Matching Drop-Down or Sequence Drop-Down quiz question using variables, but you may be able to achieve what you're looking for using a Matching Drag-and-Drop question instead!
