Can't figure out how to remove automated scroll bar appearing in Accessibility Text

Aug 25, 2022

This is driving me nuts.  Hundreds of text boxes that were built before the autofit accessibility feature when into play several months ago now have automatic scrolls attached to the those text boxes.

I have tried the many Articulate recommended "fixes" to get rid of the scroll bar., in particular by accessing the Storyline 360 Text Auftofit Improvements article (https://articulate.com/support/article/Storyline-360-Text-Autofit-Improvements) and Storyline 360: Upgrade Project Text article (https://articulate.com/support/article/Storyline-360-Upgrade-Project-Text). I  created a backup file after allowing the  Upgrade Text feature to be imported.  This did not generate an "Upgrade Project Text" option under the Design/ Fonts dropdown menu as described in the article.  (I would love to be able to get rid of all automated scrolling that has been applied to hundreds of text boxes when the Accessible Text toggle is turned on.)

I've also tried manually updating each text box that has a scrollbar I don't want.  I try doing this by accessing the Text Box tab in the Format Shape dropdown option when right-clicking on the text box I want it applied to (including the text box on the attachment).  I've tried each of the following options on that panel:

-Expand width option

-Fixed size option with Overflow handling set to Allow text to overflow

I've also tried expanding the length of the text box far beyond the length of the single line text so it wouldn't default to a scroll when Accessibility Text is turned on.

None of these approaches have worked.

I need help quickly and am frustrated by this issue.

Thanks to anyone who can give me a good quick workaround or solution.

Yeah I saw it but I’ve done too much in the new version now. Unless I import the new stuff into the backup? If I do that will I have the same issue?

Thanks for following up! I would caution you not to import the current version to the backup since there isn't a way to single out what is imported and what isn't.

I hope this doesn't happen in the future, but if so, then you'd want to continue working on the backup version if you don't want to use the upgraded text.

So there’s no way to just regress my current version? Can this option be added to future iterations pls.

Hello Janet,

Some authors keep multiple versions of a course so they'll have the option of reverting to a previous one if needed. You can start keeping a file in a different directory to have a working backup of your course, and you are also welcome to raise a feature request here for the option to roll back to a previous version of a Storyline 360 course!

Also, your contact information came through as well. This Peek video will show you how to edit it out if you’d like!
