So i've read a few tutorials and watched some videos and looked at some examples but I am doing something wrong which won't allow my slide to move across the slider and change the layer.
This issue is that you have a different slider on every Layer. So, after you show the first layer, you are no longer moving the same slider. You have only created triggers for the first Slider on the base slide.
You may want to consider designing your layers so that they do not cover up your base slide slider and that will allow you to continue using that slider.
The current way you have designed it would require you to compound your sliders to all be adjusting the same variable. . . it's doable, but might require you to have a higher comfort level with sliders.
Hi, Kerry -- Thanks so much for your question, and I see that Ron has provided you with some great info! Please let us know if you are all set, and in case you'd like to take a look, here is some additional general info on working with sliders that you might want to check out:
Looks like Ron and Christie beat me to it, but I was taking a look at the file when you shared it here.
Perhaps my file will help you visualize what Ron is describing. You built the slider correctly, but your images and additional sliders on the layers prevented you from moving the slider as expected.
I've removed both and you can see that your slider works properly.

Hi Ron,
Thanks for your help.
I have removed the objects from the slide layers and just added the text box.
