Cannot use the "delete" function

Hi,

This might be a silly question, but worth a shot. For some strange reason, I am unable to use the "delete" function in Storyline. I can add any kind of object, but cannot delete anything. The delete function works fine in all my other applications, but just not in Storyline. Any suggestions on how I can fix that?

Hi Tria,

here are a few reasons why you would not be able to delete something.

an object was created on a Master slide (layout). Therefor it appears on the slide that has the layout assigned, yet the objects can not be removed. To delete the, go to the master slide and delete the objects on the master slide. Be aware that when deleing something from the master slide (layout), they are no longer visible on all other slides which have the master slide layout
The objects are on an other layer of the slide. They are visible, yet can not be deleted. To delete them, goto to the layer an deleted them there

How do I know which one is my master slide? Also, I'm not able to make any sense of it because every time I create a completely new project with a blank template, I'm still unable to delete any object once they're added. Even when I right click the object on the timeline, there is no delete option.

Sorry, I meant to add also that it's definitely not on a different layer.

Hi Tria!

Just curious, how are you trying to delete your objects? Are you using the "Delete" key on your keyboard, or are you right-clicking on the object?

To see if you have content on your Master, click on "View". You'll be able to change to the Master Slide here. However, if you're opening blank projects without any contents or templates, I don't think this is the case.

Can you also check to see what version of Storyline you're using, please? You can find this information by clicking on "Help" and "About Articulate Storyline". If you're not running version 2 (1212.1412) please download and install Update 2 from the link below:

Articulate > Download Storyline Update 2

Phil, I am using a mac and having the same issue trying to delete a zoom region I don't want anymore. I've tried command X to cut it with no luck either. Tips?

OK, delete on a mac is fn+delete key

Hi Carrie,

Try this:

If you're using Storyline in a Windows virtual machine on a Macintosh and you want to delete an object, hold down the fn key on your keyboard and press the delete key.
