What is the proper method to change the Slide Master after importing a Powerpoint presentation. I tried to copy the Slide Master from another scene / project (dark grey w/logo) and delete the default Powerpoint Slide Master (white background), it won't delete. Changing the layout does not work, my logo vanishes (right, normal view).
Any help would be greatly appreciated or where to find the help?
Something else that might help is importing the slides into a new Storyline file. You should be able to import your current slides into a new, blank Storyline course and then modify the Master. Take a look at the tutorial below for information on importing slides:
Your information was very valuable. I was able to learn that the problem had to do with the Theme. Once I selected the correct theme everything worked correctly. I'll have to read up on themes so I understand better.
I'm not following you. I want to switch one layout in the Master for another. I imported what I wanted from Powerpoint. How do I get the new imported layout into the Master and delete the current theme I have in the Master? Does that make sense?
I'm not sure that standard PPT templates work the same in Storyline. You would need to make sure that you are creating and saving a Storyline template as explained in this documentation.

If you have a slide that you imported from PowerPoint that has everything on it you want on your new layout, Select and copy everything on the slide. Then go to Master view, right click on a thumbnail and choose Insert layout. Click on the new layout, and paste. That will make a new layout with everything on it that the slide had.
Ok. So I saved the PP as a template. However, I still need to change what I currently have on my slide Master to the new template. Anyone have any ideas on how to make that happen with out having to copy and paste every single slide?

When you save your story, the layouts will be saved with it.

Still looking for feedback on the above?
Hi Kevin,
I'm not sure if this will help, but you might want to check out a post made by Steve Flowers:

Thanks again and have a super great day!
Awesome! Very happy to hear that, Kevin.
I hope your day is super, too!

I already have a slide master template and I want to change it with another design. How does that work?

I'm not sure I am following your question Kendra. Are you wanting to swap layouts in your course? This is covered in this tutorial.

Do not save as template. Save as layout.
Then you can select one or more slides and apply the layout to them.
How do I save as a layout? I don't see a way.
Select and copy everything on the slide. Then go to Master view, right click on a thumbnail and choose Insert layout. Click on the new layout, and paste. That will make a new layout with everything on it that the slide had.
When you save your story, the layouts will be saved with it.
Walt, I must be missing something. Please see the attached.
When you get here,
Choose Insert Layout.
When the new layout becomes visible, click on it and paste.
Ok...I hate to sound like a dummie, but how do I SAVE it as a layout. That's what I need to know.
If you save the theme, the layout will save with it, and you can use that theme for other presentations.
If you save your current story, the layout saves with it, and you can use it on any slide.
See the attached video for an example.
Thanks so much for sharing your expertise, Walt, and I'm sure the video example will be a great help. :)
Yes - video would be great! Thanks Walt.
Hi, Kendra -- It looks like Walt has already attached the .mp4 video on his last response. Please click on the .mp4 to review his screencast.
