Change State Trigger Stopped Working??
Jan 07, 2016
Hey everyone, have you every experienced this?
I have buttons on a screen that the learner clicks on to reveal information on different layers. After they have clicked on each of the buttons, I have a trigger programed that says to change the state of an object to normal when all of the buttons have been visited. Everything had been working perfectly until yesterday. Now, Storyline has stopped showing the button objects and the activity is not working. The funny thing is that it is working on another slide. Any ideas?

Just as a general principle, "When state is " does not work well as the "When" part of a trigger. That is because the trigger has to be executing at the exact instant the state changes."When state is" is designed to work well in the condition part of a trigger. If you can find another action to initiate your trigger, you will be much happier. I suggest using the action that changes the state.
Hi Stephen: That is bizarre that it functions in one place and not another. Are you able to duplicate/copy the slide and reproduce the same error, or does it correct itself?
The easiest solution here, might be to recreate the slide. Not a reason for the error, but perhaps a way to correct it (work around it).
Thank you Walt and Tracy. I am almost positive now that the issues I am experiencing are because of a security software that my organization is running. The reason I say this is because I just opened the file on another laptop and everything is working fine. I will use this loaner laptop until I finish the lesson and then work on what happened to my PC.
Thank you both for your help and suggestions.
PS. I did try recreating the slide and had the same result. Weird...
Hi Stephen,
If you think it's the install of Storyline on that laptop alone, you could also look at repairing Storyline and confirming you're also following along with the general guidelines here for working on project files.
Thanks Ashley. I will work with our IS department to see what steps they want to take. We have done a complete reinstall and that has not made a difference. I was able to complete the lesson updates on the other laptop though with no issues. I believe following all of the repairs steps is a good direction to go in next. Thank you very much. I will repost when this is resolved.
No problem Stephen and it's definitely an odd one, so please do keep us posted but I suspect the repair may do the trick.
