Changing layers to slides
Feb 22, 2016
Hello everyone!
I hope you can help me. I have a project already finished and published. But, we are experiencing some issues during the project in HTML, since the interaction skips the content that has been added in layers, which have a button added at the same position as the slide. Then, after reviewing different options seems that we must quit layers and program everything in the slides. The thing is: is there any way I can convert a layer into a slide? Or multiple layers into slides?
Thanks!

Hi Daniela,
There isn't a way to convert a layer into a slide - you'd have to copy/paste the items out of the layer and then place on a slide.
If you wanted to share a bit more about the behavior you're experiencing though, we are happy to help figure that out further. Please let us know what update/version of Storyline you're using, where you're hosting/testing the content, what browsers are being used, and what you're seeing occur when you have the user click on the button. Also we'd be happy to take a look at the file if you're able to share a copy of the .story file here using the "add attachment" button.
On the other side, is there a way to turn slides into layers in SL2? I have tried the copy and paste method into a new layer, but it doesn't work for me.
Thanks!
You can duplicate a slide's baselayer, which creates a layer that you can then copy to another slide.
I don't want to copy the information to another slide. I want to eliminate the slide by adding the information as a layer to a different base layer.
Example: I would like to turn slides 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 into layers (instead of separate slides) on the base layer of 1.1, so that my audio will play smoothly over the layers as opposed to the choppiness of trying to play it over separate slides.
You could duplicate the baselayers of 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 and copy them as layers to 1.1. Add triggers to show these layers when needed. Then delete slide 1.2, 1.3. and 1.4.
