Changing states of sliders that are linked to variables

Hi brilliant brains of Storyline!
I'm designing a health checker and I want to display the results using sliders.
Basically, if a respondent scores low, the thumb of the slider is low (equal to 1) and the colour scheme of the slider is red; if they score medium (equal to 2), the thumb of the slider is in the middle, and the colour scheme changes to yellow; and if they score high (equal to 3), the thumb is at the other end, and the colour scheme changes to green
I've got the sliders moving based on the respondent inputs using variables, but I can't get the states to change. I've tried renaming the sliders to match the variables, but that doesn't seem to help.
Any ideas?

Try this. Be sure to connect the slider to the variable. Then Edit the slider states. Copy Normal (don't create a new state), and you can use the Design tab to change the fill.
Thanks for the quick reply Walt!
I realised I was using the wrong tiggers - I've applied your triggers, but it's still not working
I'm using a tick button for the input and the sliders are on a different slide... would that be impacting why it's not working?
Yes. On the slide with the sliders, set it to return to initial state on revisit, and set the triggers that change the states to fire when the timeline starts, depending on the variable values.
