Clearing a Text Data Entry Box

Hello I am hoping that someone can help me with this. Is there any way to trigger a text entry box to clear all entered text and revert back to it's initial state.

I have created a text entry box on my a master slide so that the learner can make notes and reference them as they move through multiple slides (which is working fine). However if they do not  complete the exercise correctly they need to go back and start from the beginning, I have a button to send them back to the first slide and have set the states of all the slides to reset to initial state however the text entry field is still showing any notes made during the first attempt. 

My only thought at the moment is to create multiple versions of the text entry box on the master layer and then tie their appearance on the slide to a variable that tracks how many times the learner has visited a slide in the exercise (which would tell me what attempt they were on since they cannot move backwards). However I am hoping that there was an easier way to do this. I would really appreciate any suggestions, thanks!
