Client Review
Jul 09, 2015
Hi
I'm looking for some advice on the best way of managing a client review of a Storyline lesson.
We currently send the client a client review form and a copy of the storyline file, however, it is sometimes very difficult to follow/be certain of which screen a particular comment refers to.
Is there a better way of managing the clients review, such as inserting unique screen identifiers on each screen, which can be removed for final publication?
Best wishes
Simon

Hi Simon
i put a textbox in the bottom left hand corner and put the screen number that matches the Storyboard then the client review log has the corresponding column. Once final module approved I remove the textbox before supplying the source file...hope that helps
Hi Wendy, thanks for your response. I think your solution is what i was referring to in my original post (but you described it better!).

Isn't Wendy great, Simon?! Thanks for helping out here, Wendy! :)
I like the idea of assigning a number in a text box to be removed. However, that is very labor intensive for large modules. Is there a way to auto assign a unique number in the text box?
Hi Victor - if you find out I will be very interested to know ;-)
This topic has come up many times in the forum. I think we all agree that some sort of numbering or identification for slides would be hugely helpful in the review process. I'm not a programmer but it seems like if SL can identify the scene:slide number when outputting to Word it should be possible to have that info show up on the slides themselves. I'm sure it's not as simple as that seems but what a great benefit that would be in the review process.
I suggest you put in a feature request.
Thanks Brett for sharing that link here. Currently system variables such as slide number are not documented or set up to be accessible, but the more we hear from users the more our team will be able to consider such updates and changes.
Captivate has Reviewer, which is just perfect for reviewing the published course, which is usually how most clients want to review it after you have developed it. Articulate does not have anything like that, but they definitely should. I know I put a request in for it many moons ago, but have heard nothing.
I've used Review My eLearning. It works beautifully with Articulate products, and the company just added some great new features.
Looks nice Elizabeth. Looking through that website reveals that this is a "pay for" service based on the number of courses reviewed. The tool I referred to in my previous post comes with Captivate for free. Not knocking the service, mind you, but my hope is that Articulate address this need for their Storyline customers at least on par wit their competitor - Adobe.
Hi all,
Thanks for sharing those ideas and suggestions here. I know it's been a common topic of discussion and one that a number of users such as David have submitted feature requests in regards to as we do not currently have a functionality that would allow others to review and comment on your courses.
Please know that all feature requests are tracked and categorized, so although no one here at Articulate can share specifics about our road map beyond what we have publicly announced, you are being heard and listened to. Once we're able to share specifics of a feature or update/new version, we'll share the news wide and far. In the meantime, please know that our team is excited for a number of things being discussed and worked on, and we hope you'll be just as excited when we're able to roll them out to you.
Oh you know I have nothing but love for Articulate Ashley. I do wish that you had some type of feature request 'feedback' or 'tracking' system though so we can all see the goodies you guys are working on for us!
I know :-) Just like to chime in and clarify on these type of threads before they get too far down the path or out of hand.
Also, that's been a feature request too! But if we told you all the goodies, where's the fun in that? If you've seen some really great examples of other companies or products that have such a system - I'd love to be able to share that with our team. We've discussed it previously and continue to do so - so would love to have a better sense of how folks would see this working.
Essentially, what Reviewer does is perfect, because (at least from Captivate 5.5 onwards), the review file is emailed to the client, who then reviews it with comments and then emails it back for action. The whole thing can be tracked on a server, which handles revision control. In the event emails can't be done (high security enviroments - DOD, etc.), then it can just be up/downloaded off the revision control server setup on Captivate.
P.S. Sorry for using the "C" word here. :)
Thanks David - I've never used the "other tool", so it's helpful to have that info here and I'll pass along in regards to how you'd like to see this same type of feature in Storyline or Articulate in general.
