Closed Captioning Missing Characters

May 01, 2019

Hi,

I am new to Storyline 360 and am having some issues with closed captioning.

Whilst adding (translated) text to closed captions it's not displaying properly when previewing/exporting, it is missing the character "i" as per the attachment below (should say "Withdraw" not "Wthdraw").

I would have assumed it would be related to the encoding however it's even removing it from English words.

When I view the caption text again outside of a preview it has the word in the caption correctly.

I have exported as HTML5 and tried on several machines and it's always missing these characters.

Does anyone have any suggestions, I am probably missing something simple here?

Many thanks,

Ed

I'm encountering a slightly different issue where I am loading different language subtitles into the closed caption function, and some of the characters are not showing properly. Specifically characters in Portuguese like á, ç, õ, and ã are showing up as little diamonds with a question mark in them (screenshot attached).

I have switched the caption font several times to different system fonts that I know contain those particular glyphs, but they just won't show no matter what I do.

Is there a setting somewhere to use a font's full glyph library or something? We are planning on translating our training into at least 12 more languages with far more complex alphabets and so I would like to try and get this working quickly.

Any help?
