Collapsed menu at start

I have read the other threads on how to do this but the fixes just are not working for me in SL3. This is how I have the menu set up:
Despite that the published player always starts with the menu expanded.
Please help!

Can you include a screenshot of the behavior you're seeing?
I found a work around. The menu was in the left column. When I moved it to the top left it would stay collapsed.
