Completed quiz slide quickly flashes on screen when user clicks on 'continue' button to move to the next quiz question

May 18, 2021

Hi everyone

I'm new to Storyline 360. I have a problem with my quiz slides. In Preview mode, when I'm testing the slides, each time I complete a quiz slide and hit submit, the slide smoothly transitions to either the 'correct' or 'incorrect' slide. However, when I click on the 'continue' button to move to the next quiz question, the quiz I've just completed quickly flashes on the screen before moving to the next quiz question. It's really annoying and clunky looking. Has anyone had this issue, and can anyone please help me to rectify it?

Many thanks

Hi, Liz,

When you submit a question for scoring, the program adds either the Correct or Incorrect layer on top of the slide. Because it's adding to existing content, it's a smooth transition.

There are two triggers associated with the Continue buttons on the Correct or Incorrect layer. The first trigger hides the layer, and the second trigger jumps to the next slide. Because the first trigger hides the layer, the question content on the base will appear briefly before the slide advances.

In my experience, that transition happens pretty quickly. It's never bothered me, and I've never heard of complaints. However, I realize it could be more noticeable depending on the design of the feedback layer or if the system is acting a bit sluggish.

Unfortunately, you need to hide the feedback layer to allow the user to review and/or retry the quiz, so I don't have any suggestions to rectify the situation.

Hi Judy

Many thanks for your prompt response. Ok - so by all accounts I'm doing the right thing, it's just the way the slides advance. I do have quite a bit of feedback on the slide as part of the learning process, so this is why it is so noticeable to me - even for that fleeting moment! (Maybe I need to park my pedantic manner for this one!).

Thanks again - really appreciate your help.
