Content filtering for embedded web objects

Mar 08, 2014

Hi All,

I'm currently trialling articulate storyline as a possibility for managing simple iPad kiosks by creating a html5 guided presentation (or using articulate mobile player) and embedding the relevant websites into the presentation as web objects viewed within the constraints of a slide.

Between this and the guided access functionality it is proving relatively simple but there is one thing I have not been able to resolve - one of the websites search functionality uses google, which has a logo associated with it that can provide the hyperlinks to get away from the approved content and then out to search for and access ANYTHING. As the kiosks will be in a public place this is not ok!

Does anyone know how I can lock the web objects to only view a certain domain and effectively filter their content? I am looking into other mobile device management options generally but I think the simplest approach would be to control the embedded object if that's possible...

thanks in advance for your help

Hi Chloe:

A WebObject is the equivalent of a iFrame in a website.

You cannot change anything in the target website from within Storyline, nor can you place anything in front of a WebObject.

You will need to contact the target website developer to customize the target website so if it is displayed inside an iFrame, the search function is not visible.
