Converting from Captivate to SL

Nov 20, 2012

Hi,

I just wanted to share with you something - during the past few days I've been converting a course we have in Captivate into SL. The reason for the conversion was our mobile audience.

Initially I tried to use CP 6 with the HTML5 ability, but it didn't prove to be a good solution. I have to say that I was reluctant at first, because I'd worked a lot with CP and loved it. BUT after working for the past few months with SL and after the current conversion I've converted as well (-:

The ease of creating quizzes is amazing and when I compare the time I invested and the bugs/issues I had with CP, I'm so happy we've made the decision to choose SL.

To complete this positive picture all I need now is some best practices/additional capabilities to use on Smartphones, and we're good (-:

Have a nice day,

Shanee

Hi Efrat!

Great to see you here (-

As you know in the beginning I wasn't a big fan of SL (I think I was too much at ease in my PPT comfort zone), but after a few days of using it for creating new modules, I learned how good it is for creating a variety of different content types (mobile content, demonstration movies etc.).

As for the conversion - I re created the pages from scratch. As far as I know there's no way to import CP to SL.

The good thing about it as I've already mentioned that it was so quick and hassle-free. As you know in the past I really enjoyed working with CP, but now I wouldn't get near it because SL provides me all the functions I need in a much easier way.

So a good call to buy SL - tell me if you need some pointers.

BTW - are you going mobile or even considering it?

Take care,

Shanee
