Copying triggers across slides?

Dec 11, 2015

Hello, I use Articulate for my job. Unfortunately, not many in this small company know it well, and those that due have a perfunctory (non-technical) understanding.

My concern: A client submitted a 70 slide Power Point for use to turn into an AICC exported training.

When I import the Power Point, it auto-generates a slide trigger, set to advance to the next slide when timeline ends. The client, however, wants the slides to advance on user click -- but only after exactly 7 second.

My solution: I added a boolean variable, and set the slide trigger to merely change the state of this variable at timeline's end, and then added a player trigger which advanced on user click, but only on the condition the boolean variable's state had changed. Easy peasy.

My issue: I now have to reimplement this idea across 69 more slides. In the perfect would I'd be able to click in the little trigger box, say "select all" and then copy/paste across the remaining slides. However, this does not seem a perfect world. :(

Is there any way to accomplish this task besides clicking in and manually setting each slide? I can copy one of the two triggers, paste, and then go back and copy the other, pasting again, but then I also have to remove the original trigger (lest their now be two), and it seems a big pain.

I figured out how to do a batch removal of all trigger of a certain type (select Storyline with a "select all" and then remove the trigger from the first slide -- provided all slides have exactly the same trigger, they seem to go in a batch format).. but I can't figure out how to apply them similarly.

Help?

p.s. Is there a way to set the time line end across 70 slides automatically? The .pptx file imported with a default 5 seconds, and 7 is my target. If not a way to alter them post import, is there an .ini file I can hack to change this default arrangement (or preference in general) for a reimport? Not sure where it got the 5 seconds from.

Thank you for the reply, but that link doesn't really address my concern at all.

In short, I figured out how to use variables to interact between the various triggers; my concern was with copying my solution across 70 slides.

However, even this I figured out:

I focused (clicked on) any one slide as displayed in Scene display on the left, and then selected all to illuminate all 70 slides. I then pasted the trigger, which added them to each and every slide.

I still had to go through all 70 slides to delete out the duplicate triggers (i.e. those placed by default), but I got it to purr like a kitten.
