Creating project with two short answer submissions to Desire2Learn

Dec 19, 2013

Hello all,

I'm creating a project that requires students to participate for a few minutes by clicking and listening, then give me a short answer submission that should be fed into D2L, then participate again for a few minutes, then submit another short answer.  I haven't done anything like this yet.  Any tips?  I'd appreciate any advice!

Hi Elise,

You could definitely add in two short answer questions, and you'll also want to make sure you set up a survey results slide so that the information can be sent to your LMS. You'll want to check in with your LMS about pulling the individual user's answers.

Also, you may want to review how Storyline communicates completion to your LMS.

Hi Elise,

Have you checked with your LMS team regarding how they'll report out on user text entry? Every LMS handles it a bit differently, for example in Articulate Online, I'd need to look at the Attempt Detail report to see the answers by user, or the Answer breakdown to see all the answers (not specific to a user) in the whole course.

I've created the mystery, published it with SCORM 1.2, and tested it like crazy.  When I log into D2L as a test student and take the mystery, my answers show up. I know it works.  However, none of my students' or my colleague's students' answers show up.  I do have the quiz slides set to require an answer before they can see the next slide.    What's going on?

Here's the set up:

Slide 1: intro.  Audio, visual.  Advance slide by Next.

Slide 2: characters. Advance slide by Next

Slide 3: Short essay answer.  Must input some sort of answer to submit.

Slide 4: characters.  Audio, visual.  Advance slide by Next.

Slide 5: Short essay answer.  Must input some sort of answer to submit.

Slide 6: Results slide, displaying credits.

Hi Elise,

I'm not sure I'm following your test behavior - are you looking for the individual students to see their own answers or are you not seeing their answers on the administration side looking at reports? Have you checked in with your D2L team regarding why the answers may not be appearing even though you were able to see them during your test?
