Custom pass/fail requirements for a Storyline quiz

Jan 09, 2015

Greetings all - my client has a special quizzing need. They would like to have a quiz that not only requires the learner to pass the quiz with a minimum of 80% correct but also MUST answer a specific question correctly.  For example, if the quiz has 20 questions and the only question the learner answers incorrectly is that special question, then they fail the quiz. Can this be done and if so, how?
THANK YOU!!

Hello Russell!

I am not sure if this would work, but you may be able to set up 2 separate quizzes, one with 19 questions, and the one special question as a separate quiz - each directed to their own results slide. You could then make a final results slide which calculates off the other 2 results slides instead of questions. You would need to play around with the passing score of the first 2 results slides to make sure if they fail the second one, with the special question (you could set this one to be 100% to pass) that they would fail.

You could bypass the users seeing the individual results slides by adding a trigger to jump to the next slide when the timeline starts. (this is on this file attached)

Attached is a simple idea. Even if you pass the first 2, if you fail the third you will not pass. Not sure if this is ideal, and hopefully others will jump in with ideas to share!
