Customize slide numbers on player menu

When you use several scenes and choose to display slide numbers you get them in the left nav menu. 1.1, 1.2, etc. What I'm trying to do is customize this so if the participant is in module 2 ... these show as 2.1 even if I just have a single scene on Storyline.
I need to do it this way because I don't like using a single file for all the course modules. I like to break it down into several SCORM objects; one for each module. So if I'm working on mod 2... I would like the slides to be titled 2.1...
I have tried inserting blank scenes expecting that scene 2 will be shown as 2.1, but that's not the case.
Has anyone accomplished something similar? Thanks in advance.

Here's an option: add the numbers to the start of the slide title in the field that's used for the Menu:
Unfortunately, that will break the connection with the on-slide Title text box. So if a title needs updating, you'll have to edit the text in both places. But this will let you customize the numbers in the menu.
