Data Text Entry will not work on Firefox but in all other browsers

Jun 26, 2015

Hi there,

I was wondering if somebody could help me with the following problem:

I have set up a Data Entry Text Box (eg.Set 'name of text entry box' equal to the typed value When the control loses focus) where students can enter text which then gets revealed in the following slide. This works fine in Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer but not Firefox 38.0.5 which is the latest version. There you will find a cursor in the textbox but it won't let you type. A minor issue is also that text gets interpreted bold in Chrome but I could live with that. Our students use all different browsers so functionality in all would be good. This was created in Storyline 1 (see attached) however I also upgraded to Storyline 2 to try this but to no avail. I am hoping somebody can help.

Thank you

Hi, Christina -- I tested your file with FF version 38.0.5 and it worked properly for me (perhaps trying uninstalling and reinstalling FF to be on the safeside). Also, can you please run through a few troubleshooting steps for me to rule out the causes of some odd behavior? First, please make sure you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline. Also, could you please ensure that you are utilizing the most recent SL2 Update? Info on Update 5 can be found here.

Thank you Christie - after reinstalling FF on my machine and updating FF on a colleagues machine this now works. The storyline by the way was done in storyline 1 which was the newest version there also. I found that when updating to storyline 2 some text there got interpreted differently which is the reason why I opted to stay in storyline 1 for this.
