Default navigation buttons on quiz pages

Jun 16, 2014

I have created my own custom previous and next buttons and have unselected the slide navigation controls for the default buttons, they don't show when you are on the slide for the first time... but they appear for quizzes when you go to a previous slide and then back to the quiz slide (even though the boxes are not checked). It causes a real problem because the go to the previous and next slide in a linear fashion, but the course is not linear and where they go is incorrect. How do I get rid of these buttons.  Your help is very much appreciated.  Kathy

Hi Kathy,

If you're revisiting a quiz question after you've submitted it - the prev/next buttons will reappear as Storyline is assuming you need a way to navigate the course as you'll see documented here.

If you'd like to have an option to disable the Prev and Next buttons during quiz review so you can use your own custom navigation buttons, please let us know. We value your feedback.

Hi Ashley,

I am actually in the exact same situation as Kathy was when she wrote her post. I would like to know whether by now there is a way to revisit a quiz slide without seeing the default previous and next buttons of Storyline or whether you can suggest some workaround for it. I use my own navigation not to get stuck in the quiz slide when revisiting.

Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

Same problem here. I've been to the thread Alyssa mentioned but there's no quick and dirty hack to make that effective in no time on every browsers.

Here's my take;

Go to Player / colors & effects / show advanced color editing / edit item : button. From there make every button's item 100% transparent! BAM! Default nav buttons vanished! There are still there but so far with no side effects on my project.

I will further test this workaround and make sure no undesirable behavior happen.
