You can use a true/false variable. Set it to false as default and then add a trigger to change it to true when timeline ends. The add a condition to the trigger on the next button that says something like this : jump to slide X when user clicks 'next' if examplevariable == true.
NB If you're using the default player navigation the next button will not look inactive.
It worked just how I wanted it to I'm still getting used to the software and variables are something of a mystery so I would never of figured that out on my own. Thank you for taking the time to explain
Just when I thought I had it sorted...the variable works fine on the first slide I use it on. However, I have repeated the process for other slides in the presentation using exactly the same process and it doesn't work. Am I missing something?
If you are using the same variable for every slide all you need to do is add a trigger to adjust variable to false when timeline starts to reset it for each one.

Hi Paul,
If you are using the same variable for every slide all you need to do is add a trigger to adjust variable to false when timeline starts to reset it for each one.
Bear in mind this will mean that you will have to wait for the timeline to complete every single time you view the slide before continuing.
