I have an object that I would like to animate with a motion path, but I don't want the motion to start right away. Is there a way to set the trigger right onto the object and just delay the start or should I just set an object holder off the slide and have the motion start on object 1, when the timeline starts on the object holder.
you can set a trigger to start when time reaches or on a cue point or when another object animation completes no need for off slide objects any more for this
I created an "invisivble" box by giving it no stroke and no border. Sent that down a 3 second motion path, then cued the visible objects I wanted to move off the completion of the invisible object. That gave my visible objects an apparent 3 second delay.
I would never have realized that you could set a motion path based by tying it to something complete unrelated to what you want to move, and the trick on making that object appear later on the timeline. Thanks so much for sharing, and for the demo file, Ari! This completely solved my problem, and quickly :)
Going back to the original answer, I avoided creating an invisible or offstage item, and simply set the item to move when the timeline reached a specific point. I have attached a modification Ari Avivi's file.

This is what i had thought to do. I have set a cue point and now the object is not moving at all. Any suggestions?
Hi Niomi!
This thread is a bit dated. Would you be able to share the .story file that you are working on so that we can take a look?
Finally got it to work. Thank you for your reply:)
Glad to hear it Niomi! If you have any tips or thoughts to share with others that may run across this thread, please feel free to share.
So how did you do it?
Here you go
Thanks for popping back in to share Ari and hopefully that is able to assist David here.

Nice Eddie! Always love to see the ideas and examples here.
You can use the same approach with a `normal`object (with some fill and line) too and simply drag it offstage.
Glad you found this thread helpful Rachel. Thanks for chiming in to share.
np I always forget how to do this and end up back at this thread to remind myself. Thanks!

So glad that this conversation was able to help you as well Sharon. Thanks for chiming in to share.

Thanks for sharing, Michel!
Thank you Ari, I didn't know you could use an object on the timeline to create a delayed "beginning of timeline" trigger. Very helpful!
Thanks Michael! This was just what I was looking for.
