When I select an object (say an image) on my slide and hit the delete key on my keyboard, the object doesn't delete. I have to right click and select "cut" (or go down to the timeline), which is slowing me down.
I'm on an iMac running Windows 7 via Parallels. Is this just me? Thanks so much. --Daniel
Not you, Daniel. That's just a Mac thing. I experience the same thing.
I think it has something to do with the Mac keyboard as the 'Delete' key on a Mac is mapped as a 'Backspace' on Windows. Since Macs don't have Backspace it can only be mapped to one action at a time.
Hi, I have the same problem using a PC (HP ZBook), cannot delete objects with the delete key I need to do right click and "cut". Any suggestion to correct this in a PC world?
If the bounding line on the object is a dashed line, it is not actually selected, so Delete won't work. You need to click on the boundary to get a solid line, then delete.
Another problem you can have is clicking an object with text, which automatically selects text editing, and Delete will delete text. Again, click the bounding line.
Thanks for the response, but ... still not working. To give you and other example, if I simply do an insert shape, or any thing else and try delete right away it does not work (the undo does). So I'll try uninstall and reinstall.
I am having this issue as well, on two of my PCs so it's not just one device. The program is up to date. There's not even a delete function on the drop-down menu.

I *think*
hold down function and the backspace key that will give you delete.
TBH this is a real pain when you switch to aPC I keep holding down ctrl
Thanks, Kevin. That makes me feel a bit better about it. One of the prices I pay for the Mac, I guess.
@Phil - Mac keyboards don't have a Backspace key. Are you saying to hold down Control along withe Mac Delete key to get a true 'Delete' function?
my mac has a backspace key and no delete key.
The key above the return key with a left facing arrow is backspace
Hold down the fn key (next to ctrl) and then press backspace/delete will give a true delete function
OK I am corrected it is delete, but mine both have back arrows so I presumed backspace. 3 macs and 7 years and I never realised
LOL - No backspace key nor left-facing arrow. I'm using the new wireless keyboard.
I just tried it and holding the function key - fn - down while pressing the Mac 'Delete' key is a true delete. fn + delete = Delete
Neat! Learned something new today.
Thanks, Phil and Kevin: I've got a wireless keyboard, too. FN+Delete should do it.
Not to belabor the convo, but to confirm, yes, fn + delete will delete what you need deleted on a Mac.

In the drop down menu, Delete is spelled "Cut". Still, the Delete key should work. It would be interesting to know if Yan's idea worked.
