Deploying E-Learning on Amazon S3 - Lesson Latency Issues

May 08, 2019

To date, we have hosted our [pubished to web] e-learning on s3, however we have an high rate of users giving feedback that there were streaming issues with the lessons. As a team, we can never replicate this, so we have theorized that this could be a streaming issue due to data center proximity.

My questions are:

1) Have others experienced this issue?

2) If so, did you deploy CloudFront? And did that mitigate the issue?

3) If you did deploy CloudFront, did you do a RMTP or HTTPS distribution?

Hi Joe,

I can appreciate that it's frustrating when only a few learners are running into an issue, especially when you're unable to replicate the behavior yourself! I haven't run into any challenges hosting on Amazon S3 myself, so I'm not sure how much help I'll be.

You may want to ask your learners if the issue is specific to a browser or device, or if they're able to confirm internet speed and connection. That could shed some light on slow loading.

If you can share a link to your course, I'm always happy to give it a test and provide some outside insight into playback.
