Different Audio Quality in Record Mic vs. Record Screen
Aug 08, 2012
I just downloaded the trial version of Storyline to test it and see if I could make the switch from Captivate. I recorded a few intro slides using Record Mic and the audio quality was fantastic. However, when I went to insert my software simulation, the audio quality was severely reduced. It appears as if the mic became much more sensitive during the screen recording compared to the Record Mic (i.e. no screen recording).
I don't see any settings to adjust the mic like we have in Captivate and I'd really prefer not to record everything again in Captivate. I've seen a few postings on recording audio in Audacity, etc, but I'm a complete novice when it comes to that and then syncing anything to my recorded screen shots.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any tips for a newbie?

Welcome to Heroes, Jonathan!
Have you tried adjusting the Publish Quality settings for the audio in the publish dialog (found under Step 4 here?) Those changes won't take effect until after the course has been published. Give it a shot and let us know if there's an improvement. Otherwise, we'd love to be able to take a look at your project and try to determine what's going on. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip. For some reason, it was changing the recording input levels depending on if it was insert audio or record screen. I seem to have figured out a way to flip back and forth for now, but I'll just need to go slide by slide and adjust the volume so it's consistent.
Before I saw this post, I reported the same problem
