Disabling Next Button Only Working for 1 Slide

Aug 12, 2013

Good morning,

I am a Storyline newbie and I am having some trouble disabling the Next button until the Timeline ends. I followed the instructions on the Support Page and was able to keep Next disabled on the first slide in my project, but this ONLY works on the first slide.

All my slides have the same slide and player triggers (see below), but I can't figure out why this only works for the initial slide. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

Thanks!

Hi Ashley,

I just spoke with your Support Staff and it turns out the problem was due to only using one variable for all the slides.

In case anyone else has this issue, I’ll copy the response I received below:

The issue is occurring because you only used one variable for all your slides. The variable's value is not reset after switching to a new slide. What happens is after the first slide's timeline finishes, the variable would then be already set to"true".  If the next slide would refer to the same variable, the user would then be able to go to the next slide even if that other slide's timeline is not yet finished since the variable is already set to true. The solution is to use a different variable for each additional slide.
