Display Menu option only when student has completed the course?

Oct 25, 2016

I have chosen not to display the StoryLine Player menu bar in my course but... once the student has completed the course, I would like for them to have the option to access the menu bar and review slides in any order they wish (rather than be restricted to have to complete the course in order).  Is there an option in StoryLine to allow a Menu bar and not restricted navigation ONLY when reviewing a course that has been already completed?

Thanks!

Hi Joleen,

We wanted to do something similar. My solution is to go ahead and show the menu, but I have it restricted. That way students can go back to review, but not forward past the last slide viewed in the course. As each slide is visited, it unrestricts the menu for navigation.

If you now set the Resume setting in the player to Prompt to resume, or Always resume, then when the student returns and resumes the course, the menu will be available, and will not be restricted.

Hi Joleen,

There isn't a setting in Storyline that would allow you to do as written, but you could use Dave's suggestion or there may be other community members who could suggest things utilizing Javascript or similar.

Best of luck and let us know what you end up with as it may help others here in the community!
