We have a client who wishes to embed an iframe from Articulate Online on their HTTPS site. Is this supported? It does not seem to be working at the moment.
Hi, Charles - From what I understand, AO login is HTTPS. Viewing content from AO is HTTP. So, if you drop an HTTP content IFrame on an HTTPS page, the browser will see mixed mode and probably not show the frame. Some browsers might be OK with that, but most, most likely not. Hope that helps! :)
Thanks for following up! We haven't made a change to the Articulate Online content being HTTPS, but would love to hear some more information from you about how this would fit with your needs. You're welcome to share here in the ELH forums or as a part of a feature request here.
First of all we have a similar use case as the initial poster: we need an https based hosting solution to uses in our clients intranet.
And Secondly everyone is moving on to https: as a default set up so I was wondering if there is a roadmap or anything the like in place for articulate online.
Until then we have no reason to use articulate online
Again thanks for getting back to me with the clarification
I haven't seen something like that on our roadmap, so I don't have much else to share in terms of how near on the horizon it is...but it's always good feedback for our team that it's something you need, so I appreciate you sharing here. You can also always share feature requests using the form here.
Hi Jacob.I’m sorry if this limitation is making your work difficult. We have explored using HTTPS for all things Articulate Online, and we ran into some risks. We would be making changes to our HTML5 functionality as well as modifying all of our desktop apps. The risk of making such broad changes outweighed the benefit up to this point.
Do you need to embed your Articulate Online output on your website? Is publishing for web directly a possible workaround for you?
I wanted to provide you some good news to start your week.
While we've always secured Articulate Online logins with encryption, we now encrypt communication when managing and viewing courses, too, so you can be confident your data is safe. It also means you can embed Articulate Online courses into secure websites that use the HTTPS protocol.
Want to give this a test and let us know if you have any followup questions?

Following up on this year old question: what are Articulates plans on having the Content on https?

Not supporting HTTPS for an embeddable iFrame in 2017 is basically an embarrassment. It shows no respect for your customers or their customers.
