Does 'prompt to resume' not work when publishing to CD?

Dec 16, 2019

I'm going round in circles so hope someone can help! I am publishing to CD (or rather using this option so that the teacher can launch the storyline presentation from their computer) and using Storyline 3.

Even though I selected 'prompt to resume' in the player, when I click the 'Launch Story' in the extracted zip file, it doesn't resume where I last left off. Everything is back to the start again and my text variables have returned to blank again.

There isn't even a message asking me if I want to resume (which there always is with the files I have published on the internet).

Am I missing a setting? Or is it not possible to resume part way through a storyline presentation when using the publish to CD option and launching from your own computer?

Thanks.

Hi Susan!

You're right, that does seem odd! I've tested my own file with the same settings and didn't notice this issue. You can see my test here.

Although, you will find the fill-in-the-blank questions won't have the answer typed previously. This is displayed properly. The answers won't be tracked like how it would be displayed in an LMS.

Do you mind sharing a screen recording of what you're seeing with your project?

Hi Lauren, thank you for the screen recording. I'm not getting that first screen at all with the resume button on it. It is launching straight into my presentation.

Which is odd because I do get that resume button when I load any of my presentations which are stored online.

I'm using Storyline 3 so would that make a difference?

I'm not using fill in the blank questions. They are text variables which get filled in at the start and then appear throughout my presentation.

Hi Susan,

Thank you for letting us know! Happy to dive in a bit deeper here!

The course should be resuming with Storyline 3 as well. Could I have you share a screen recording of what you see with your project?

If you need our help to take a look at your file, we're always more than happy to help! You can share files in this thread here, or you’re welcome to share it privately here. We'll let you know our findings and will delete it after having a closer look.
