I am trying out text to speech on my course and the speech plays automatically when the slide starts. Is this usual and is the way to stop it to place a trigger and then a button to start the audio?
Does anyone have an example file they could share?
Thank you - you are so helpful. Hope thisi sn't too cheeky, but I just wonder if there is any chance you could show me how to set the button up so that the states change when it playing, pause and at the end so can replay - is this possible?
So that it is clear to the user if they can play, pause or restart?
You will think I am so helpless but I am having a bad time at the moment and my head is all over the place!
I love your solution but I would really like to use the symbols in the attached file. I have spent a lot of time today trying to replicate your solution with those other buttons and I just can't do it.
Any chance you cold do it for me? I would be so grateful - I'm assuming it will be quite straightforward - I'm just not thinking straight.

Hi, Sue.
The default behavior for any audio (text-to-speech or when you insert your own) is that it will play automatically, as it's part of the timeline.
You can adjust it on the timeline, so it doesn't play right away:
You can also pause it when the timeline starts, then use a button to play it.
I am attaching a sample file. Let me know if this works!
Hi Maria and thank for your speedy reply.
I can't open the file but I get the instructino. So I add a button to play the audio,. Any ideas if they want to pause it or replay?
Thanks
Sue
Hello Sue!
Great question! You can use a variable to play and pause the audio. Here's a 3-minute demo where I've shown you how to build this in Storyline 360.
When the audio completes, it will replay when pressing Play. Please let me know if you have any questions!
HI Lauren
Thanks so much - that was so helpful.
Couple of questions - you mention that at the end it will replay - how does it do this?
Is there any chance you could share the storyline file with me so I can see (and copy!) the triggers?
Thanks from a very sunny Manchesteer, England :-)
Hello Sue!
I'm glad that was helpful. Yes, it will replay when the audio is finished, and the user presses the play button again.
Absolutely! I've attached the file.

Hello Sue!
I'm glad that was helpful! I've added a replay button to the slide and set it to restart the media. I've attached the updated project to this reply.
Let me know if you have additional questions!
Hi Lauren
Me again.

Hi Sue!
We all get stuck, so no need to apologize at all! You'll want to add the exact same triggers that I have in my project. Here's the full list.
Also, make sure to add a selected state on the Play/Pause button.
Let me know how it goes!
